Put the ROSC in Rescue

What is ROSC?

ROSC stands for Return of Spontaneous Circulation. In medical terms, ROSC is defined as the return of a sustained, perfusing heart rhythm after cardiac arrest (Hagos et al., 2025; Kowalski et al., 2019).

When the heart stops, blood and oxygen can’t reach the brain and vital organs. CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) helps keep blood flowing until emergency responders arrive. When CPR and defibrillation are successful, the heart may restart — this is ROSC, and it’s a critical step toward survival.

Why is CPR Training important?

Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere — at home, at work, or in public. Most cases happen outside of a hospital, which means bystanders play a vital role.

✔ Immediate CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival
✔ AED use increases the likelihood of restoring a normal heart rhythm
✔ Quick action helps improve the chances of achieving ROSC

When more people in our community are trained, more lives can be saved. Join us and help build a stronger, safer community — where more people are prepared to respond, help, and make ROSC possible.

ROSC starts with you.
